Valrei

This post is about Valeri missions and items on Wurm Online.  I just wanted to capture what I have heard about this in one easy to reference spot.

Valrei Map
http://strikelimit.co.uk/Valrei/index.php

The map shows the current positions of all of the gods etc and allows you to mouse over to see their status and where they are going next.

The gods must gather the items that are randomly dropped on the map and then make it home with at least half of the total item (rounding down).

The god's homes are:
  • Magranon: Castle Glittercrown.
  • Vynora:The Drown.
  • Libila: Rusty Daggers.
  • Fo: The Myriad.

You can influence where the gods move by using "Commune" on an altar and spending 5000 karma for a 70% chance to influence where the god will move next (apparently a failure only uses 2500 karma).  Some tiles may have affects on the gods as well but I haven't learnt enough about that yet.

Once someone has influence where the god will move next it is a waste of karma to try to do it more apparently.

Missions
Doing missions for your servers god may give them buffs and will reduce the timer before the god next moves.

Missions give you karma, scenario points and sleep bonus for helping.

Scenarios
Once a god wins a scenario all people of the winning kingdom with scenario points get tickets in a lottery based on the amount of scenario points they have.  A recent change has set the minimum points to 300 scenario points to get a ticket.  I am not sure if this translates to 300 points per ticket or not.

The winner of the lottery gets a random sorcery item.

Sorcery
The following image was taken from this thread about sorcery items: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/103098-sorcery-what-where-who-all-the-infos/?hl=%20red%20%20cherry

The following has also been taken from the above page in case it disappears:

"With the most recent update to uniques we have seen that sorcery items now drop from uniques but no one knows what they do and those that do have been keeping it secret (minus the few that have shared with me so far). These sorcery items add a spell to your character, a pre-fix title ex. Mage Ruger the Desertmind [Clairvoyant] (It can be turned off) and adds a buff/debuff. These effects are permanent to your character as of right now according to rolfs initial post about sorcery being put in a year or so ago.
Since the release of these items I have been stacking the items which means using more then one. Doing this only changes your title through combinations as you will see below; it does not give additional spells or buffs/debuffs. At Mage you do unlock a Gold Achievement, "Mage".

The resistances: Ive seen so far the resistance is 10-15% and the weakness is 10% but will continue to update this opening post and spreadsheet as more information comes in.

Here is the spreadsheet I have running right now. Please post below if you have any information you would like to add to the spreadsheet. I am looking to also add the information on each item to the wiki. Each item has 3 requirements that must be fulfilled to be used; the main requirements are 3x3 flat and vicinity of a holy altar, then some are by a tree or in the desert where nothing grows in a verge large space-and I mean large space. So if you have an item please post your examine, your requirements and maybe even the message you got when you used it. Will update the spreadsheet and keep this growing."

The King Under the Mountain

I have mentioned Wyverx briefly before so today i will write about him in a little more detail.

Wyverx was a quiet achiever.  He would disappear into the mountain for hours at a time and only come back to the deed to sleep.  Every now and then he would ask for help to make a particular tool but even these requests started getting fewer and fewer.

When questioned he would say he was making a little base up in the mountain in one of the other craters.

I would visit from time to time while out hunting and find the area not changed much. A small shack, maybe a small walled off area would appear over time.

One day while smithing and chatting I asked if he was due a new set of armour and was surprised when he said no thanks.  We got to talking about what he was doing up there and he said that he had been practising mining and had needed to do something with all the ore he had mined so had made several sets of armour.

From that point on we would joke about him hiding in his cave in the mountain and didn't think much more of it.

Until the day he offered us some rock to make bricks for our walls...  I took a cart up the mountain and was hanging around outside his shack waiting for him when he popped out of the rock face next to me.

He led me into a cave that was 3 x 3 wide and reinforced on all sides.  It was filled to the brim with BSB's and carts.  I immediately named it the secret stash and was suitably impressed.

Wyverx then showed me the tunnel.  He was not a fighting type and was sick of all the animals attacking him on his way up the hill so had decided to do what he did best and created a tunnel all the way from his hideout down close to our deed for protection.  I had never seen a tunnel so long and it was reinforced all the way down with silver lamps every few tiles.

Turns out the whole time he was up there he was mining and making things.

Over time he became so good at mining he needed better ore than what was in the local area so I showed him where a better vein was on the other side of the mountain.  I assumed like us he would cart over to the other side every now and then but turns out I had underestimated Wyverx yet again.

When his masterpiece was complete he invited me up to have a look.  Wyverx had tunneled through the entire mountain aiming directly at the vein and had hit it spot on.  Again there was lanterns every few tiles... I think he had grown afraid of the dark from all that time underground.

From this day on his legend grew.  Some people would call him a ninja as he would appear from nowhere when least expected.  I heard stories of people settling in our area only to have Wyverx pop up in the middle of their so called "secure" compound.

As his reputation in the area grew some people called him the King Under the Mountain.

Out of the ashes

Last time I talked about the events leading up to us building Starfall.  Today I will continue on where I left off.

Wuuw and I climbed down into the newly formed meteor crater to check out its full potential and found that the little island in the middle was all bedrock and nearly flat.  We quickly built a 1 room shack to stake our claim on it and went about terraforming it to make it easier to get into.

We made a ramp down and a land bridge across to it so we could cart in the raw materials we would need to start building our new home.

Then we sized up the area and started planning out the structures.  We had learned from our last village that planning is important to get the most out of a deed.  Due to the size of the island and the minimum size of deeds we decided to do it in 2 stages, the inner keep and the outer rim.

Our first priority from there was to make it all secure and to get a deed token planted so the inner keep walls all went up as the first stage.

Now that we had a wall and doors we were able to move all of the livestock from the ship works to stop the spread of disease the confined space was already causing.

It would be a while before we finished the inner keep but we were already loving our new home.  The outer rim took a lot longer as there was a lot of dirt to be moved before we could put up the outer walls on the deed border.

During this time a lot of friends and neighbours offered us help and materials.  It was really cool to see a positive aspect of the community.

Mbwakali wasn't on much in those days as he had real life issues to deal with and our friend Wyverx tended to disappear into the mountains a lot so it was mainly just Wuuw and I in our new village so it really kept us busy.

I have talked about this era of our Wurm experience with Wuuw several times and have come to believe this was the beginning of the end for our newbie ways.   It was around this time we really started understanding the game and learnt to maximise our skill gains and do things in the most efficient ways.

The Founding of Starfall

I wanted to write about Wurm Online as it is a game that really builds stories but I am not really a story teller.  Thinking about where to start writing was hard but I decided to start by going back to how Starfall came about.  It's not where we first started playing but it's as good a place to start the story as any...

Mbwakali, Wuuw and I lived on a mountain top that we called Mt Weeping.  It was a nice spot and we had carved it into a fairly good place to live.  Wuuw and I had been talking about making an island though as his boats meant he spent most of his time on the shore (he had even created a little shipworks down there).

I had deeded the top of the mountain and was building all types of buildings up there.  I was pretty close to finishing too and even commented with how many things were left to build:
[19:47:05] <Strandedrabbit> still have 7 walls, 4 parapets, a floor and a roof to do before I would consider this section done though.

It was 23/02/2013 and a nice sunny morning on Wurm.  I was tending the horses in the field when it suddenly went very dark.  I thought it was night at first but then remembered that it had only just gone morning.  Looking around the weather was very weird and stormy all of a sudden.  I looked on the world chat tab and saw that people were talking about an eclipse.

Looking up I saw orange / black blobs in the sky drifting down towards me.  They turned out to be meteors from an event that is caused by battles between the gods.

I stood watching as the first one came down at the side of our mountain and struck close to the bottom less than 50 tiles from me.  The ground heaved and walls were destroyed in an instant.  The tall stone wall 2 tiles away from me disappeared without a trace.  My health was knocked down drastically and I noticed that I had received a bad wound.

Looking up again quickly I saw that there was still at least 3 more meteors on their way towards me so I jumped on the horse that I had been tending and rode as fast as I could to the back of the deed as far from the impacts as I could.

During this time the world chat was going crazy:
[19:53:27] <Twiches> Did it just somehow go instantly dark?
[19:53:29] <Aaldayar> eclipse?
[19:53:32] <Esmeralda> Jupp here too

[19:55:57] <Ninosk> what does this mean
[19:55:58] <Kodiakjack> :O

The other meteors hit our neighbour Zet's place, our mountain and a little SE of the mountain.  I was trying to tell everyone what was going on while healing myself and answering everyone's questions.

I made the mistake of saying where we were and people from all over the server came to "help" which is their way of saying steal anything they can and take the precious glimmersteel lumps that can be mined from the meteors.

Wuuw and I went into damage control and spent the next few hours salvaging what we could and rounding up all the livestock.  We were even able to get a text message to Mbwakali to get him to log on and see the carnage.

Our deed and all the buildings on the mountain were destroyed beyond repair.  The shipyards was the only place left standing so it became our temporary base.

Once we had most of the stuff secure we went and scouted around the area to see how our neighbours had faired.  We found that Zet was our only damaged neighbour but his place was too destroyed to patch up for him.

There were craters everywhere it seemed and we found one that had hit the flat area and left a perfect circle hole in the ground down to water depth with a circle of rock in the middle just higher than the water.

Both Wuuw and I agreed this would be the perfect place for a new deed.  We even thought of the new deed's name... Starfall was born.
